Air Inlet Louvers

Air inlet louvers are installed on the tower casing between the cold-water basin and the fill level, on the outside of the tower. Their role is to direct incoming air for more uniform distribution across the fill, reduce splash water losses from the basin, and limit sunlight to help reduce algae formation. Louvers are manufactured from first-grade PVC with a pull-trusion/traction process and a special profile to minimize air resistance. Measures are taken to prevent displacement by wind. On request, they can also be produced from FRP. Suitable for both local and imported packaged tower types.

Raschig rings are injection-molded from PP (polypropylene). They are used in water cooling towers and scrubber systems. In cooling towers, they serve as fill media. In scrubbers, they increase the gas–liquid contact area to support washing and condensation for odor removal and treatment of hazardous emissions.

PP ring (spritzring) fill is one of the most widely used fill types in cooling towers for many years. It is injection-molded from PP (polypropylene) and can be used successfully in high-temperature process water up to about 100 °C. It is preferred where water is very dirty, oily or sandy and prone to scaling, and where ambient conditions are dusty. It can be washed and reused, helping reduce maintenance and replacement costs.

PVC Film Fill

SP-PVC-FILM-FILL

PVC film fill provides the heat transfer surface required for water-to-air exchange in cooling towers. Sheets are vacuum-formed and assembled into blocks (bales) for installation. It is typically used in clean-water processes up to 55 °C, where water is free of excessive dust, dirt and scaling. Due to its large surface area, efficiency is higher than many other fill types. Common types include CF-12, CF-19, CF-30, CF-M and CF-O. CF-30 is widely used in wastewater treatment (especially biological treatment); CF-O is used in crossflow cooling towers.

Drift Eliminators

SP-DRIFT-ELIMINATOR

Drift eliminators are located between the fan deck platform and the water distribution system inside the tower. Their purpose is to prevent water droplets formed in the distribution zone from being carried to the atmosphere by the induced airflow. They are installed as modular cassette blocks; cassettes are mounted without gaps to cover the full tower cross-section. The design targets high drift removal performance while keeping pressure drop low.

FRP Pultrusion Profiles

Profiles with various cross-sections required for tower construction are manufactured from glass fiber reinforced polyester (FRP/GFRP) using the pultrusion process. In pultrusion, the profile is formed by pulling a fiber-and-resin combination through a die. Thanks to the high fiber content, mechanical strength is high. The profiles do not require painting or periodic maintenance over their service life and are minimally affected by chemicals.

The nozzle is manufactured from polypropylene (PP). It is designed for easy assembly/disassembly for cleaning and maintenance. Water Distribution System

SP-WATER-DISTRIBUTION

The water distribution system is located inside the tower between the drift eliminator and the fill media. It ensures uniform distribution of hot water from the plant onto the fills. When water temperature is below 55°C, the main pipe and bypass are applied in PVC; for higher temperatures they are implemented in PP or FRP (CTP). The main pipe and bypass are produced with leak-tight connections, allowing easy assembly/disassembly without cutting and splicing during maintenance.

Service Window

SP-SERVICE-WINDOW

The service window is installed on the outer tower casing, typically on a side wall. It enables observation of the water distribution system and provides easy access for inspection and maintenance. In fault or control situations, it allows personnel to look inside and reach the interior during servicing. It can also be used near the lower fill level for operations such as draining or removing fouled fill media. It is designed to open and close easily and to be water-tight. For corrosion resistance, it can be manufactured in stainless steel or FRP (CTP) options.

Cooling Tower Axial Fan

SP-FAN

The axial fan is installed in the fan shaft at the top of the tower. It drives airflow through the tower to enable evaporative cooling. Air is drawn through louvers, passes through the fill media and is discharged to the atmosphere through the fan stack. Fan blades can be manufactured from glass-fiber reinforced PP, FRP (CTP), aluminum pultrusion profiles or PP. Blade connection plates may be aluminum pultrusion profiles or cataphoresis-coated carbon steel. Various cooling tower fan types are available.

The vibration switch is typically installed next to the fan stack on gear-driven towers. It detects vibration in the fan group under abnormal operating conditions and protects the system by switching the electric motor off. Motor and Reducer (Fan Group)

SP-MOTOR-REDUKTOR

The motor and reducer operate as a group with the fan and fan stack on the tower deck. They are among the most critical components of a water cooling tower. Units with fan diameter Ø ≤ 1600 mm may use only an electric motor; larger units use motor and reducer together. Fan peripheral speed is 52–60 m/s. Motors and reducers are used in V1 vertical flange configuration. Motors are Class F insulated and IP56 protected against dust, oil and moisture.
